The Presidency has refuted earlier claims of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) lifting its visa ban on Nigerians, according to a statement made by the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information, Bayo Onanuga.
Taking to his X handle, Onanuga clarified that the document circulating about the UAE lifting the visa ban on Nigerians is not authorized by either the Nigerian government or the UAE.
This comes just hours after he had shared a document suggesting the resumption of visa services for Nigerians intending to visit the UAE starting March 4, 2024.

The UAE had imposed visa restrictions on Nigerians about two years ago, citing concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the behavior of some foreign nationals.
The restrictions resulted in a diplomatic row between the two countries, involving flight allocations and other matters.
The conflicting reports highlight the sensitivity of diplomatic relations and the importance of accurate information in international matters.
