Veteran Actor Mr. Ibu Passes Away at 62

The entertainment industry is mourning the loss of veteran actor John Okafor, fondly known as Mr. Ibu. After a prolonged health struggle, including the amputation of his leg, Mr. Ibu passed away in a Lagos state hospital on Saturday, March 2.

According to family sources disclosed to the Instagram blog, Linda Ikeji, the actor had been on life support following a second surgery for his health condition.

Unfortunately, his blood pressure reportedly exceeded 200 after the surgery, and despite efforts to stabilize it, he passed away later that evening.

Mr. Ibu had been battling recurrent blood clotting in his leg, attributed to diseased blood vessels, and other health issues for several years.

In October 2023, he publicly appealed for financial assistance to address his illness. Despite initial plans to transport him overseas for further medical attention, his doctors deemed him unfit to travel, leading to the cancellation of the arrangement.

Tragically, during his treatment, his leg was amputated in November 2023.

The news of Mr. Ibu’s demise has sent shockwaves through the Nollywood community and beyond. His legacy as a talented actor and entertainer will be remembered fondly, and he will be greatly missed.

Mr. Ibu passed away at the age of 62 and he is survived by his wife and children.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family, friends, and fans during this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace.
