Photos from Ibadan Explosion, Buildings Damaged by Suspected IED

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) South West Zonal Office has shared chilling photos depicting the aftermath of an explosion that rocked Adeyi Estate in Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State, on the night of January 16.

According to NEMA, the explosion was caused by Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), raising concerns about the safety and security of the affected area.

The distress alert reached NEMA at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, originating from Bodija GRA behind Ace Mall in Ibadan. The Southwest Zonal Office of NEMA promptly coordinated the deployment of response agencies to the scene to assess the situation and initiate rescue efforts.

Upon arrival, it was apparent that the incident was a suspected explosion involving IEDs, resulting in severe damage to over 20 houses in the vicinity. The exact casualty figures remain uncertain, as search and rescue operations are still ongoing.

The images shared by NEMA portray the extent of the destruction, underlining the urgency and gravity of the situation.
