2 Killed As Police Escorts Shoots At Tricycle Who Tried To Overtake Them
Two tricycle passengers was allegedly killed by police escorts attached to a VIP at Ugbolokposo in Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
The incident was said to have happened at Ugbolokposu Junction on Tuesday evening, July 12.
It was gathered that the said tricycle rider was trying to overtake a convoy when the armed escort of policemen opened fire on the occupants.
Consequently, two persons were killed whIke the tricycle rider sustained gunshot injuries.
One of the deceased identified as Apepe was said to be a tickets collector whIle the other identified as Charlie was a meat vendor at Effurun Market.
Angry youths and Keke riders stomed the Ebrumede Police Station on Tuesday night and threatened to set it up on fire over the death of the victims.
Comfirming the incident, spokesperson of the State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe, said that an investigation is ongoing to unravel the identity of the security officers.
