Police Officer Shot Trailer Driver Dead Over N3000 Bribe In Benue
One sergeant James Aondona has been arrested by the Benue State police command for allegedly killing a trailer driver.
The incident happened on Sunday, June 27 at a roadblock along Katsina-Ala-Zaki-Biam road Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State.
HGS Media Plus gathered that the victim, one Aondohumba Terkula was shot dead after he allegedly refused to pay some police officers money.
It was gathered that some police officers demanded the sum of N3000 naira from the deceased but he gave them N1500 saying that he could not pay any more than that.
This ensued an argument between them over his refusal to pay the complete money and consequently one of the police officers allegedly shot him dead.
Comfirming the incident, spokesperson of the command, SP Catherine Anene, said that the culprit, Sgt. Aondona, has been arrested.
Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, CP. Wale Abass condemned the unprofessional conduct of the officer involved and ordered that further investigation be carried out.
The corpse has been deposited at General Hospital, Kastina-Ala.
