Five Men Buried Alive While Excavating Sand In Kano

Five men have reportedly died while excavating sand in Kano.

HGS Media Plus reports that the incident happened on Saturday morning in Yanlami village, Bichi local government area of the State.

The men were said to have gotten trapped while working in a puddle trench in bid to get sand to their friends who were about to marry build a house but unfortunately the sand collapsed on them, killing instantly.

The victims are Alasan Abdulhamid, 22, Jafaru Abdulwahabu, 30, Jibrin Musa, 30, Masaudu Nasiru, 25 and Muhammad Sulaiman, 35.

Confirming the incident, Public Relations Officer of the fire service, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, said they ”received a distress call from Bichi Fire Station that puddle trench has covered five people.”

He added that ”the victims were trapped while working in a puddle trench to get sand with the intention to help their friend who was about to marry build a house but were covered by the sand after it collapse.”

The five victims has been exhumed.
