Mother And Her Two Daughters Die In Boxing Day Accident On Sagamu-Benin Expressway

A mother and her two daughters have died in a tragic boxing day accident on the Sagamu-Benin Expressway.

The incident which involved a stationary Howo Dangote truck with registration number WW 630 XA and a Ford jeep with registration number AKD 311 HH happened on Sunday, December 26 at an old MRS filling station, along the Sagamu-Benin expressway in Itako, Ijebu Ife, Ogun State.

The Ford jeep which conveyed the woman and her two daughters was said to have ran into a Dangote truck after loosing control due to over-speeding from their driver.

Consequently, the woman and her two daughters died, but the driver survived and is in police custody.

Spokesman of the Ogun State’s Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) Babatunde Akinbiyi, who confirmed the incident said theford jeep was on its way from Lagos to the Eastern part on vacation when it rammed into a stationary Dangote truck from behind due to excessive speed and loss of control.

”The husband of the woman stays overseas and the driver was employed as the family driver. The driver is at the police station,” he said.

Mr Akinbiyi sympathized with the family of the deceased and advised drivers to avoid excessive speed while driving during the harmattan season.

The deceased were deposited at the morgue of Gosheng Hospital, Ijebu Ife, by operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
