One Steven Jiya, has been arrested by the police for setting ablaze his mother, one Mrs Comfort Jiya, a Former Principal of Government Girls’ Secondary School, Sabon Wuse and Maryam Babangida Girls’ Science College, Minna.
The victim was reportedly killed in her kitchen on Monday, December 20 at her residence in Darusalam Area of Minna.
It was gathered that the suspect who is said to be a drug addict returned from Suleja and poured petrol on his mother before lighting her up in flames.
The victim was said to have died on Friday December 24, at about 3pm at the Minna General Hospital where she was receiving treatment for burn injuries.
It was alleged that the suspect had tried several times to harm his mother but to no avail until he finally had his way with her.
The suspect has been remanded in prison custody after being arraigned before Minna high court by prosecutors from GRA Police division.
