A newborn baby has been rescued after being dumped in a black polythene bag in Markudi, Benue State Capital. HGS Media Plus learnt.
The baby was found and rescue by a woman along a farm path in Adaka village in Markudi Local Government Area of the State.
The woman identified as Joy Kwatse was said to have rescued the baby on her way to her farm.
It was said that she noticed the bag and when she approached it, she found the child struggling for survival with mud on her body and soldier ants eating her head and buttocks.
Subsequently, she wrapped the child and took her to the Division Police station in the state where she was later told to go to the Command headquarters.
Seeking additional help, Joy went to her sister’s house who immediately involved the security aide to the State Governor, Samuel Ortom, Tughgba Nightfall.
The baby was then handed over to the Olive Vine Children Health center in Makurdi.
