There was a massive flood caused by a heavy rainfall yesterday evening at Obakhavbaye, ring road area of Benin City, Edo State, HGS Media Plus reports.
The said Obakhavbaye has been known to always be heavily flooded with water after heavy rainfall. Businesses in the area have also been affected by the flood hence preventing customers from patronising them.
Over the years, Obakhavbaye have been one of many streets in Benin City being affected by flood during raining season.
Speaking to HGS Media Plus, a business owner said the street has been like that for over a decade and the government has refused to do anything about it.
He revealed that most of the waters that gathers in the street wasn’t just from the rain itself but from other areas of the State that floated down to the street (Obakhavbaye) due to lack of proper drainage.
He also said that the flood affects their businesses as customers are unable to patronise them due to the amount of water that floods the area.
However, alternatively, he said they paid some set of Hausa traders in the area N200 to help them pass through the water to their destination with their cart.
